MATT McGINN
The Dundee Ghost

Now a dead man seldom walks and he very rarely talks,
It's no' very often you'll find him runnin' aroon',
But I'm a refugee frae a graveyard in Dundee,
And I've come to haunt some hooses in Glesca' toon.
Ooh, Ooh! And I've come to haunt some hooses in Glesca' toon.

The reason I arose was to get masel' some clothes,
For it really gets hanguva cold below the grund.
But I whispered to myself, Ach, I think I might as well
Hang around for a while and ha'e some fun.
Ooh, Ooh! Hang around for a while and ha'e some fun.

A man put out his light on a cauld and windy night,
I showed him one o' my eyes and slapped his held.
He says, 'Oh,' and I says, 'Boo.' He says, 'Who the heck are you?'
I says, 'Don't be feart; I'm only a man that's deid.'
Ooh, Ooh! I says,'Don't be feart; I'm only a man that's deid.'

The fella knelt and prayed, and this was what he said—
'Why in the name of God ha'e ye picked on me?'
I pulled away his rug and I skelpt him on the lug;
'The reason,' I says, 'I'll very soon let you see.'
Ooh, Ooh! 'The reason,' I says, 'I'll very soon let you see.'

When he brought the polis in I battered him on the chin.
The polis turned aroond and blamed my friend.
He marched him to the jail. He'll be in there quite a while,
But I'll see naebody's taken his single-end.
Ooh, Ooh! But I'll see naebody's taken his single-end.

NOW, the polis thought him daft, and a lot of people laughed,
When the fella said a ghost was in his hoose.
But what the fella said was true, and I might be visiting you,
So just remember I'm still on the loose.
Ooh, Ooh! So just remember I'm still on the loose.
